There are a few defining differences between flatlanders and just about any
other type of riding. When asked what makes a flatlander different, some
people think its balance, others think it’s the desire to ride alone. Well the
fact of the matter is, flatlanders are the only type of riders who spend more
time on their pegs than pedal, if they have pedals at all. With flatlanders
spending so much time on their pegs, they want to ensure the peg is comfortable
yet grippy. Pivotable yet easy on the hands. And who could forget, light
weight, strong, and inexpensive. Well up until now, I have not found a peg
which could match all these desires and more.
The Quamen Stabilizer Pegs are a perfect fit for most
riders. They grip amazing well, even in pouring rain. Although not the
most comfortable grip, they don’t hurt your hands or cut them up. The pegs
have a nice smooth end which makes pivoting easier, and they come in 3/8’’
axle slots. These pegs have been bashed and banged and the only evidence
are the pieces of blacktop which have been chipped away. They are 4.5’’
long and 1.65’’ in diameter, CNC’d from a block of Aluminum unlike weaker
cast pegs. These pegs are 100% American made from a company who truly
represents flatland, Quamen Bikes. They have a unique drill setup which
saves weight, adds grip, and makes them look amazing. They weigh in at a
mere 165 grams each and will be available at FlatlandFuel.com soon. Check
them out as well as other Quamen flatland parts in their new transformer
series.
