ranking.
Stoneleigh, UK – 03 April 2005.
The 2005 UK Bike Show gathered an international field of 29 professional
flatland riders representing 7 nations. Local Great British riders had been
looking forward to this first opportunity in 2005 to challenge their fellow
European riders as well as Canadians Travis Collier and Nathan Penonzek, the
2003 world champion. Three times X Games winner, Marti Kuoppa from Finland
finished fourth behind Sam Foakes from England. Viki Gomez from Spain claimed
the final victory ahead of Frenchman Alex Jumelin, fourth in the 2004 BMX World
Championships.
Viki Gomez: ‘I’m very happy to have won the competition.
I’ve been training a lot this last winter and it seems like all the hard work I
did is working now this year. I’m also stoked to be the first leader of the
first ever ranking in Flatland and shall look forward to defend that position
in the up coming contests’.
